Transformative justice is prevention! Victims of abuse are often times reluctant to report and/or share their experiences based on a myriad of reasons. However, the desire for justice and safety is still needed and necessary. The opening session of NRCDV's 2021 Prevention Town Hall introduced and explored the concept of survivor-centered prevention. It allowed space for survivors to share their vision for prevention based on their lived experiences. La sesión de apertura del Congreso de Prevención 2021 del Centro Nacional de Recursos sobre la Violencia Doméstica (NRCDV, por sus siglas en inglés) presentó y exploró el concepto de la prevención que centra la atención en les sobrevivientes. Se brindó un espacio para que las personas sobrevivientes compartieran su visión sobre la prevención de la violencia a partir de sus experiencias personales.

The Adult Children Exposed to Domestic Violence (ACE-DV) Leadership Forum is shifting the paradigm from deficit to growth – supporting the development of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, asset-based policies and practices that enhance resilience capacity in those who experience childhood trauma. This training explores how domestic violence shapes children’s lives and impacts parenting, with an emphasis on the assets and strengths of families who survive this experience together.

In this pre-recorded webinar, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV) partnered with Diana “Dede” Yazzie-Devine, President and CEO of Native American Connections, an organization improving the lives of individuals and families through Native American culturally appropriate behavioral health, affordable housing, and community development services.

Research and evaluation can be powerful tools for community-based programs in the gender-based violence (GBV) field.
