Domestic Violence Content Topic Results

This article examines how the expectations and values of the female officer's profession and workplace culture influence her behavior and decisions regarding her abusive relationship.

"The Uganda-based NGO Raising Voices has been exploring and experimenting with community-based primary prevention methodologies that seek to shift attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate violence against women. This article shares some of the lessons learned from this process in East Africa over the last six years. It begins by setting forth a rationale for engaging in primary prevention efforts at the community level. It argues that comprehensive community mobilisation is essential if we are to see meaningful, sustained change on the issue of violence against women.

This article emphasizes the important role of family physician in identifying and addressing elder mistreatment. The article also highlights the need for more research to identify signs of mistreatment and increasing awareness and reporting of elder mistreatment.

After developing and piloting the survey tool in May 2006, NNEDV conducted its first national Census on November 2, 2006. The results are highlighted in this report.
